Leslie Wayne Mitton
1944-2009

Les Mitton passed away peacefully on Saturday May 16, 2009 in the comfort of his Victoria, B.C. home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sackville, New Brunswick on September 23, 1944 he was the son of Hazen R. and Bertha D. (Bowser) Mitton. Sackville remained close to his heart and was always a place he was proud to announce he originated from. While Les had many accomplishments in all aspects of life, he never forgot his roots and maintained a spirit of modesty and integrity. As a young man Les moved to Victoria where he had Janet, his first of three children, and started his career in the development business. In 1978 Les moved to Edmonton where he stayed for many years to raise his family and nurture his own real estate investment company. In his later years Les moved back to Victoria where he settled into a slower pace of life. He enjoyed playing with his three dogs Sunni, Bella and Izzie, feeding the birds, walks to the beach and going to his favorite coffee shops. We think about Les everyday. We admire your courage, your ability to make people laugh and especially the way you found enjoyment in life’s little things (a beautiful flower, a sunny day, a blue sky, or a nice cup of tea. Les, who was highly respected and loved by many, will be especially missed by his wife Mandy, stepdaughter Sarah, son David (Jessica), grandchildren Delaney & Katelyn, daughter Dinika (Tyler), daughter Janet and grandchildren Keili & Ryker. He is also survived by his sister Marion and brothers William and Allen. On July 18, 2009 a family gathering will take place at his home in Victoria to celebrate the life of an extraordinary man whom was loved so much and will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be made in Les’s memory online at https://secure2.convio.net/cco/site/Donation2?idb=599371216&df_id=12101&12101.donation=form1
