It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Novello (Mert) Burnside of Rothesay, N.B., wife of the late Arthur Burnside on August 27, 2010. Mom was born in Rothesay on February 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Emma (Carpenter) and Arnold Scribner of Rothesay, New Brunswick. Mom lived all of her life in Rothesay. She enjoyed fishing at Big Salmon River for many years and hunting on the Kingston Peninsula at her brothers home. Mom enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour novels as well as tending her gardens and was loved by all who met her. Mom is survived by three daughters, Ruth Estey (Max) of Saint John, Marlene Falkjar (Poul) of Bethel, NB, Pixie Murphy (Gary) of Brown's Flat and one son David Burnside (Gloria Keegan) of Oromocto. Also Nanny to grandchildren Susan Arnem (Dana), Peter Estey (Angie), Tracey Manosca (Jos), Nicole Wheaton (Mark Coes), Jennifer Wheaton (Matt Lajoie) all of Saint John, David Burnside (Starr) and Philip Burnside both of Alberta, Carrie Beach (Lena McGraw) of Saint John, Theresa Eldridge (Chuck) of Grand Bay, Wayne Murphy (Christina) of Saint John. Also Great-grandchildren Samantha, Kayla, Emily, Abby, Lucas, William, Cody, Connor, Aleasha, Kendra, Katelynn, Joy, and Keisha; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers Golden, Everett and George Scribner and sisters Margaret Joudrey and Elizabeth Healey. The family would also like to express their thanks to the staff of Embassy Hall, Shannex Parkland in the Valley, for their kindness and their loving support for our Mother and Grandmother. Hugs and Kisses to everyone there.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
