We are saddened to announce the sudden peaceful passing of George E. Watts of Fredericton, which occurred at Lake George, NB on August 27, 2010. He was 90. Born at Port Hood, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, George was the son of the late Leonard and Amelia Watts. He retired from the R.C.M. Police as a civilian member in 1981, having served 25 ½ years, and was a member of the RCMP Association. He was a past president of 252 Lord Beaverbrook Wing, after serving in the R.C.A.F. during World War II for 5 ½ years. His Wednesday mornings were often spent with the Fredericton Golden Club where he was a member. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 4, as well as a member of the Mick Mack Trailor Club for over forty years. Besides his wife, Marion, he is survived by his son Richard, daughter-in-law Sharon and grandchildren Sarah and Greg; his daughter, Cheryl, her partner Steve, his granddaughter Christina, her husband Greg, two great-granddaughters: Ainsley and Maren, and his sister and brother-in-law Kay and Ted Keddy of Spryfield, NS. He was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Marilyn in November 1993.
There will be no visitation at the request of George and his family. Memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Church in Fredericton on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 2pm with The Very Reverend Dr. Peter Short officiating. An informal reception to follow. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery after the reception, with a Legion Tribute in remembrance. George lived a full, gracious life, and although we are saddened by his death, we fondly remember the wonderful days which were spent with him, at home in Fredericton, while visiting in Nova Scotia and during many summer weekends out at the Lake.
