Louis passed away peacefully on May 20, 2009 at Prince Albert with his family by his side.
Louis was born on September 20, 1915 in Tway, SK. He attended Kaminka School where he was well known as a baseball player, a passion he continued with into his adult years. After completing school he worked at his father’s general store in Tway. In 1937, he joined Zilz Distributers where he was a salesperson for 57 years. He also sold for Merchants Hardware and Western Canada Importers. In the 58 years Louis worked in this field, he was well known and respected by business owners in Prince Albert and rural Saskatchewan. In 1949, Louis married Eva Karasiuk in Tway. They moved to Prince Albert in 1954 where they raised their two sons, Dennis and David. Louis was very proud of his sons and always played an important role in their lives. When Louis retired in 1995, he actively pursued gardening and walking. He was well known for his extensive raspberry patch. Louis was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, his wife Eva, his sons Edward and John, who died at birth, his sister Anna, step brother Peter, step mother Parenka and close Karasiuk and Prytula family members. Louis is survived by his two loving sons Dennis and David (Val Carson), his sister Susan Kasko, step brothers Victor and John, step sisters Elizabeth Zuk, Olga Prytula, Ann (Roman) Poncelet, Eva Upton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. During Louis’s courageous battle with cancer he remained positive and active. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Prayer services will be held on Monday, May 25 at 7:00 pm and the Funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 26 at 10:00 am, both at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 752 14th Street West. Funeral arrangements are in care of MacKenzie Funeral Home 763-8488.
