Wilfred Arthur "Art" Clark of Saint John passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Born in February 1916 to the late Edwin T. S. and Lillian S. (Sweet) Clark, Art was a WWII Veteran and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp. He was the last surviving Canadian child of an American Civil War Veteran. Art was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed sailing, singing and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Richard A. Clark and Wendy Moore of Saint John, three grandsons Mark, Matthew (Kealy) and Tyler; one great granddaughter Kirsten; several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Hurst) Clark; brothers Les, Herb, Harry and George and sisters Lillian and Jean.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) the family will receive friends on Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a Legion Tribute Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Dipper Harbour United Baptist Church 1408 Route 790, Dipper Harbour on Friday, September 3rd at 1:00 p.m. Donations in Art's memory can be made to the Dipper Harbour Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
