1934 - 2010 - George Melanson, 76, of MacDougall Settlement, NB, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September 4th 2010 at the Dr.Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital, Moncton, NB. Born in St. André-LeBlanc, NB, he was the son of the late Damien and the late Elise (née: Richard) Melanson. He was a parishioner of Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus, Council # 9545 (Notre-Dame) and a member of the Club d'Age d'Or de Notre-Dame. Mr. Melanson greatly enjoyed gardening, horses and playing cards, especially "200". He is survived by his wife, Anita (née: McGraw); two daughters: Rose Marie (Bernard) Noel of Shediac and Cecile Fougère of Robichaud; three sons: Denis and Raymond (Nancy) both of MacDougall Settlement and also Romeo (Linda) of White Settlement; five sisters: Lina (late Leo) Arseneault and Edmee (late Severin) Goguen both of St. André-LeBlanc, Yvonne (Alban) Duguay and Florida (Yvon) Duguay both of Bas Cap Pelé and Leonie (Clovis) Bourgeois of Memramcook; three brothers: Arthur (late Stella) of Cocagne, Alfred (Catherine) of Sackville and Romeo (Cecilia) of St. André-LeBlanc; two sisters-in-law: Althea and Corinne both of St. André-LeBlanc; seven grandchildren: Marc, Charles, Chantal, Nadine, Veronique, Jacob and Mathieu; one great granddaughter, Celina as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Joseph and two brothers: Albert and Donat.
Visitation will be held from the Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur Funeral Salon on Monday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Tuesday from 1 pm until time of funeral. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur Roman Catholic Church, Notre-Dame, NB on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 2 pm. Interment in the parish cemetery, Notre-Dame, NB. Donations to the family, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the donor's choice would be appreciated.
