Shirley May Melanson, 82, Debert passed away May 31, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Mcadam, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Margaret Short.
Shirley was the loving rock of our family. Her desire was for happiness and a world of peace. Her family, home and flowers meant everything to her.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Murray; daughters, Darlene Hemphill (Robbie Wilson), Victoria, B.C., Cheryl (Dave) Hummel, Springhill; sons, Bob Hemphill, Oromocto, N.B., Barry Hemphill, Debert; stepson, Donnie (Leah) Melanson, Edmonton, Alta; grandchildren, Cory, Brad and Alex Hummel, Adam and Ashley Wilson, Leah Toderan, Sheila, Clayton and Jacob Melanson; great-grandchildren, Cayl Hummel and Elaine McIlwain.
No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 7 at 2 p.m. in Debert Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Martin officiating. Reception to follow service in Debert Firehall.
