It is with great sadness that the family of Frances R. Mitton announces that she has passed on, peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 7, 2010. Frances was born in Elgin, N.B. on May 8th, 1927 to Elizabeth and William Bannister. She spent most of her life in Elgin enjoying the simple things about the country and spending wonderful times with family and friends. She was an active member of the First Elgin United Baptist Church. Frances will be mourned and always loved by her daughter, Darlene Kyle (Charles Steel), granddaughter Hayley Kyle, (Ian Estey), grandson Jason Kyle and her little great-granddaughter, Victoria Moon Kyle Estey, all of Saint John, N.B.; sister Thelma Nowlan of Elgin, N.B; two nephews: Brian and Wayne Nowlan; as well as many close cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Vaughn Mitton and brother-in-law, Morris Nowlan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm in Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the First Elgin United Baptist Church with Rev. James Hammond presiding. Interment will be held in the New Elgin Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated by the family.
