Sandy Cove (formerly of Harbour Grace and Wabush). It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) Whelan, age 66, announce his passing at the Health Sciences Complex, on June 2, 2009. Predeceased by his father Michael and mother and father-in-law Anne and Owen McCarthy. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Julia and mother Mary of Harbour Grace; sons: Owen (Sherry) Whelan, Paul Whelan; daughter Deanne (Andrew) Friesen; grandchildren: Morgan, Tyler and Emma; sister Theresa (Derm) Cole; brother Michael (Alice) Whelan; as well as many other relatives from the McCarthy and Whelan families. At Bill’s request he was cremated. The Eulogy will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Sacred Heart Church, Culls Harbour at 8:30 p.m. Funeral to follow on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. Sacred Heart Church, Culls Harbour. In lieu of flowers a donation will be gratefully accepted for a charity to be determined.
