Mary Margaret 'Peggy' Taylor, 89, of Antigonish passed away at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish on Sept. 11, 2010.
Born in Little Bras d'Or, Cape Breton, N.S., she was the eldest daughter of Edward Jessome and Katherine (Cassie) MacDougall.
Prior to the Second World War she moved to Halifax where she met and married Sgt. Wilfred Stanley (Bill) Taylor. They subsequently moved to Antigonish in 1953 where they raised six children. Peggy was the heart and soul of her family and was a devoted homemaker to Bill and her children. She was later employed at MacKinnon's Pharmacy where she was known for her pleasant smile and her rapport with customers. She was admired for her gentle spirit and will forever be remembered as an elegant 'lady'. Peggy enjoyed knitting for her grandchildren, was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League and a cherished resident of Sylvan Valley Senior's complex where she resided since 2003.
She is survived by her loving daughters and sons, Diane (Bob) Cunningham, Antigonish, Sandra, Calgary, Robert (Darlene), Moncton, Joseph, Halifax, and Peter (Carolyn), Antigonish; a special niece, Lynn (Barry) Romkey, St. Petersburg, Fla.; much loved grandchildren, Kimberly Good and Paul Cunningham, Michael, David and Brian MacDonald, Jennifer, Suzanne and Robert Taylor, Jacqueline Taylor, Alana, Hilary and Ryan Taylor; plus cherished great-grandchildren, Layla Laird, Aiden and Liam Good, Daania and Adam Cunningham; as well as siblings, Millie Brown, Agnes, Lawrence and Donald (Shelia) Jessome, Lynn (Jimmy) Hines, all of Halifax, Patricia Harrietta, Barry (Delores) Jessome, Bras d'Or, Cape Breton; and numerous nieces and nephews who thought the world of her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, son, Michael, brothers, Gus, Sandy, Dan and sisters, Josephine Merlin and Clare Jessome.
Visitation in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, Monday, Sept.13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass commencing at 11 a.m. will be celebrated at St. Ninian's Cathedral on Tuesday, Sept.14 with Fr. Daniel MacLennan presiding.
