Mora Belle (nee MacLean) Carrigan, 89, Windsor Street, Sydney, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with illness Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Marion Bridge, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Susan (Dixon) MacLean.
Mora was a member of St. Columba Presbyterian Church, Marion Bridge and the Presbyterian Ladies Guild. From 1943-1945, she served with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Women’s Divison, stationed in Sydney, where she met her husband of 64 years.
Dearly loved and sadly missed by her husband, Victor; son, Ronald (Margaret); grandchildren, Russell, Colin (Andrea) and Scott (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Jack, Bridget and Eamon; numerous nieces and nephews in Marion Bridge, Ontario and USA, who were very close to her.
Mora was predeceased by her sisters, Christine MacVicar, Florence Cameron, Charlotte MacInnis, Mamie Green and Dorothy Webber; brother, Archie and infant brother, Charlie.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. Columba Presbyterian Church on Monday 2 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating. Private family interment will take place in MacLean Cemetery, Marion Bridge. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church hall.
Memorials may be made to Palliative Care, Cape Breton Cancer Center, VON or St. Columba Presbyterian Memorial Fund.
