Clarence MacDonald, age 78 of Birch Grove and formerly of Broughton Road, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex.
Born in Port Morien, Ches was the son of the late Clarence ‘Clary’ and Freda (Frank) MacDonald.
He was a mechanic by trade and worked at Bay Motors and Highland Chev/Olds in Glace Bay for 35 years. Clarence’s favorite hobby was doing woodwork and carpentry.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Joan Mildred Wolfe; two daughters, Rita Gray (John), Ontario, Barbara (Terry), Bridgewater; five sons, Stuart (Janet), Birch Grove, Kenneth (Kay), Sydney, David (Linda), Cambridge, Ontario, Keith (Gillian), Halifax and Brian (Angie), Cambridge, Ont. Clarence is also survived by two brothers; five sisters; several grand and great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald MacDonald officiating.
Memorial donations in memory of Ches may be made to the Nova Scotia Diabetes Association.
