It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of a beautiful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Marie 'Wee-Wee' Jamieson, age 74.
Marie a long time resident of International Street, Glace Bay, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay where she had been a resident for the past 2 1?2 years.
Born in Glace Bay on April 27, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Augustus 'Gus' and Catherine 'Kay' (Wilson) Slade and a former member of St. Anthony's Church, Glace Bay.
Marie was an employee of Highland Fisheries, working at the Glace Bay processing plant for more than 20 years. She loved playing darts and played with a league at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 2, Reserve Mines, where she was also a member of their ladies auxiliary. Marie was a very pleasant, lovable and kindhearted person, who never had a bad word to say about anyone.
'Wee-Wee' will be sadly missed by her daughter, Colleen (John Hurley), Glace Bay; sons, Ray, Glace Bay, Jimmy, Ontario, Stephen (Michelle Stevenson), Glace Bay, John (Oksana), Ontario; brothers, John (Betty), Ontario, Joey, Halifax, Charles 'Chickie', Glace Bay, Stevie (Mary), Glace Bay; sisters, Lorraine 'Lollie' (Ray) MacPherson, New Waterford, Patricia 'Patsy' (Bert) Fraser, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Stephen, Barry, Katherine, Mitchell, Randy, J.D, Michael and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raphael 'Ray' Jamieson (1993), and a brother, Jim.
Visitation for Marie will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Anthony's Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, with a luncheon to follow in the church hall. All are welcome.
Donations in Marie's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of choice.
