Annie Rose (Deveau) Chiasson, 90, of Plateau, died June 5, 2009, at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp.
She was the daughter of the late Placide A. and Sophique (Poirier) Poirier.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp. Annie Rose lived a humble life. When she was well she enjoyed working outdoors in her garden or at carpentry work as well as dancing, bingo, travelling and spending time with family and friends. Her kindness made it so that there was always room for one more at her table, even in hard times. She enjoyed life, but her true love was her family. She will forever be loved and missed deeply.
Surviving are five sons, Wilfred (Patricia) Deveau, Pierre Joseph (Carol), both of Cheticamp, Eddie Joe (Jeanette) Deveau, Ontario, Alex John Deveau (Marina Poirier), Andre (Lorraine) Deveau, Cheticamp; grandson, Jackie (Lorna) Deveau, British Columbia; three daughters, Sophie Deveau-Taylor, Lucie Adèle (Charlie Joe) Harris, Casilda (Edward) Larade, all of Cheticamp; granddaughter, Ida (Deveau) LeLievre, Cheticamp; brother, Louis Léo (Winnie) Poirier, New Brunswick; five sisters, Marie Domithilde Deveau, Point Cross, Marie Marguerite Cormier, Ontario, Marie Eveline Romard, Cheticamp; twins, Annie Blanche Aucoin, Cheticamp, and Annie Zabine ‘Wilfredine’ (Alex) Gallant, Ontario; stepsons, Bernie (Alice) Chiasson, Ontario, Ivan (Marguerite) Chiasson, New Waterford; stepdaughters, Theresa (Chiasson) MacMaster, New Waterford, Marcella (Maurice) Aucoin, Grand Etang; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Charlie Eus Deveau, second husband, Henri Léo Chiasson, son, Jean Moise Poirier, stepdaughter, Rita Cormier, brother, Joseph, grandson, Lee Andrew Deveau, granddaughter, Judy Deveau, great-grandson, Jake Charles Harris, step grandson, Darrell MacMaster.
Visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday) at Cheticamp Funeral Home. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp, with Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
