Dunfield, Peter Leonard - age 51, of Falmouth, Hants County. Peter came into this world on February 14, 1959, as a valentine gift for his big brother Jeff. We the family are sad to announce the passing of Peter on September 13, 2010 at the Hants Community Hospital. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his passing. He was the son of Leonard "Len" (Vivienne Riley) and the late Vivian Amero. Peter was a long haul truck driver until he took ill five yars ago. Peter had a passion for harness race horses, you could always find him heading for the race track in Truro with Steve Morton and always with his favorite horse "Home at Last", his chestnut hero. He was an avid hockey player in his younger years. He was part owner of the "Windsor Alpines" hockey team. Peter was a ball player for Valley Transfer. He enjoyed politics and was a big part of the Liberal Team. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whether it be trips to Toronto or Florida. Survived by his loving wife of twenty six years, the former Janet Weatherbed; his two children which he adored, Meghan and Devan; brothers, Jeff (Donna), Falmouth, Russell "RahRah" (Leslie) Amero, Dartmouth; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Matthew, Katie, Morgan, Alexis, Reid, and Taylor. He was predeceased by his mother, Vivian Amero. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Memorial service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010, in Lindsay's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jeffrey White officiated. Interment was in the Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth. Donation in his memory, were requested to be may made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
We the family would like to express our appreciation towards the medical staff on Unit 200 Hants Community Hospital over the last five years struggle up to his passing.
