Stonehouse, G. Marie, 90, of Truro, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Jean (McNutt) Dewar. Marie was a graduate of the Provincial Normal College and taught in various schools in Colchester County. She was a former member of the Truro Concert Band and the Bible Hill Garden Club. She was an adherent of the Truro Wesleyan Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Merle; daughters, Jeanie (Gordon) MacCallum, Moncton; Ruth (William) Parris, Truro; sons, Joseph (Wendy), Truro; James (Jacquie), Truro; Murphy, Earltown; sisters, Fern Graham, Montreal; Ruth (John) Touchie, Amherst; brother, Jack Dewar, North River; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 step-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Stephen, in infancy and John Merle. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen McCarthy and the Colchester Regional Hospital fourth floor Nursing-Palliative Care Staff; also Colchester East Hants Home Support VON for their exemplary care. No visitation by request. A private family funeral service will be held in the Mattatall~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, with Pastor Robert Vaughan officiating. Interment to follow in the Crossroads Cemetery Valley. Donations may be made to the Community Church in Earltown, NS, or to a charity of your choice.
