March 31, 1926 - June 5, 2009 — Passed peacefully away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 5, 2009, Grant Higdon of New Harbour, aged 83 years. Predeceased by infant daughter, Madonna Dianne, parents; Heber and Nellie Higdon, sister, Marjorie (brother-in-law Fred) Williams, brother, William, sisters-in-law June and Betty Higdon, brother-in-law, Arthur Piercey, parents-in-law, Herbert and Lillian Higdon. He leaves to mourn with thanksgiving for his life his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Margaret, six sons; James (Doreen), Sydney (Greta), Lyndon (Doreen), Wayde (Wanda), Randy (Brenda), Rodney (Lori-Anne) and one daughter; Donna (Leslie) Russell, 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law, Frances (Robert) Moore, Madeline (Ron) Gamble, Sisely Piercey, brother-in-law Benson (Ruby) Higdon, many nephews, nieces, cousins, as well as a large number of special friends including Cecil and Pearl Reid, Alice and Norman Harnum and Lucy Whiffen. Resting at Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo with visitation on Saturday, June 6th, 7 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, June 7th, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m., Monday, June 8th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The funeral service will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel TBS Corps on Monday, June 8th at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy flowers gratefully declined, donations in Grant’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
