NEILSON, Neil Robert- Neil Robert Neilson of Saint John passed away on September 24, 2010 at home, supported and cared for by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born October of 1931 to the late Arthur and Ida (Cook) Neilson. Neil was a Lineman for Saint John Energy for over 38 years, retiring in 1990. He was an active member of Kings Valley Wesleyan Church and the Young At Heart Seniors Group and a member of IBEW local 1524. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Neil is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years Norma (Rix) Neilson of Saint John; two sons Ken (Fay) of West Quaco and Grant (Karen) of Rothesay; one daughter Carla Muller (Bruno) of Sherwood Park, AB; two sisters Shirley Stennick and Leona Maynard (Marty) both of Oromocto, NB; nine grandchildren Karly, Nicole (Craig), Brendon (Melanie), Kendra, Kent, Ryan, Alex, Morgan and Andrew; three great-grandchildren Luke, Naomi and Wyatt; nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents Neil was predeceased by brothers Alexander, William, Frederick Donald and James; sisters Janet Neilson, Ann Dixon, Lillian Neilson, Muriel Nolan and Marjorie Graves.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John, NB (646-2424). Visitation will be held on Sunday September 26th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday September 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery.
