LAKEVILLE – Doris Laurene (Salter) Legge, 87, passed away suddenly in the Mayflower Unit, Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton on June 6, 2009. She resided in Lakeville, Kings County for 55 years.
Born in Billtown, Kings County on June 16, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Irene (Skerry) Salter.
She was a member of the Lakeville Women’s Institute, a charter member of the Jean Rushton Auxiliary and a life member of the Women’s Missionary Society at the Billtown Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Eric) Smith, Kingston; a son, Kenneth (Lori) Legge, Fredericton, New Brunswick; a son-in-law, Murray McLean, Woodville; seven grandchildren: Marsha (Mark) MacDougall, Calgary, Alberta; Gregory (Melissa Demont) Smith, Aylesford; Jonathon McLean, Petawawa, Ontario; Dennis (Tanya) McLean and Beth (Luke) McLean, both of Coldbrook; Michael Legge, Prince Edward Island; Melanie (Mitch) Legge, Fredericton; four great-grandchildren:, Taylor and Hayley MacDougall, Calgary; Jaxon Legge, Fredericton; Ellie McLean, Coldbrook; three sisters: Phyllis Schinzel, Ottawa, Ontario; Violet Hughes (Lloyd), Westville; Helen Robinson (John), Scotsburn; five brothers: Ronald (Myrna), Union Centre; Allison, Westville; Vernon, Union Centre; Garnett (Bonnie), Penobsquis, New Brunswick; Henry (Joan), Westville; a brother-in-law, Murray Mann, Greenhill; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eber (1992); a daughter, Mary Anne McLean (1992); four sisters: Treva Gordon, Rose Lenehan, Hazel Salter and Joyce Mann; a brother, Charles (Bud) Salter.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in the Billtown Baptist Church, Rev. Murray Shaw officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County.
Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory maybe made to the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, the Billtown Baptist Church, Fundy Villa, Berwick, or to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
