The death of R. Nelson Stevenson, of Winsloe North, occurred peacefully at home, with family present, on Monday, June 8, 2009, at the age of 88, two days before celebrating his 89th birthday. Nelson was the beloved husband of Reta (nee Smith) for 64 years. He was the loving father of Robert (Noreen), Lorne (Lorraine Brown), Elizabeth Stevenson (David Storey), Elaine (Exton) MacPherson and Ruth (Brian) Morrow and the beloved grampy of 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Nelson is also survived by his brother-in-law, Parker Smith. He was predeceased by his infant son, Wayne Allan; his twin brother, William David; and his sister, Aussie. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Wednesday, June 10, from 6:30 p.m.- 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at Winsloe United Church on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at 1 p.m. Interment in Winsloe South Cemetery.
