
Gerald Boyce
Gerard Joseph Edward Boyce (Gerry, Papa G, G-Rock), loving husband of Debbie (Brooks) of Saint John, passed away with his family by his side on October 1, 2010 after a brief illness. Born in Saint John in 1958, Gerry was the son of the late Raymond and Cecile (Badeau) Boyce. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Carl Brooks, Uncle Dave Gogan and niece, Elizabeth Boyce. Gerry worked for School District 8 as a Facilities Manager for many years. Gerry coached and loved the game of hockey, he loved music - especially playing his guitar, he loved Libby Gram's cooking, all living things, nature, photography, gardening - especially his herb garden. Gerry was a selfless man - a kind, gentle spirit, who ministered to many people. He loved spending time with children and with his family. Besides his loving wife of 30 years, he is survived by his children, Matthew (Jennifer) of Fredericton, Ryan (Krista Steele) of Hampton and Ashley (Corey Hinsdale) of Saint John; mother-in-law, Libby Brooks (Mama Bear) of Kiersteadville; step-mother, Pam Boyce of Saint John; cherished grandchildren, Devin, Jynessa, Brooklynn, and one on the way; siblings Joanne Carr (Clinton) of Oakville, ON, Tony (Joan) of Clifton Royal and Chris (Ruben) of Oakville, ON; Catherine Breault (Dave) of St. Stephen and Denise Weidrick (Bruce) of Vermont; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie Collier (John) of Quispamsis, Bob Brooks of Kiersteadville, Jean Henheffer (Paul) of Fredericton, Richard Brooks (Karen), of Maine, Carl Brooks, Michael Brooks and Peter Brooks (Kelly) of Florida; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to sister, Joanne and cousin, Dennis Hebert for being by our sides during this difficult time, to Extra Mural and to family and friends for the loving support we have been receiving.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday, October 6th 7 to 9 PM, Thursday, October 7th, 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. There will be a celebration of Gerry's life on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69, Wilson Street, West Saint John. Eulogies will begin at 5 p.m. The family request people to bring their musical instruments to play together as background music. Please feel free to wear Jerry's favorite colour- orange.
