
Lancelot "Bud" Hovey
The passing of Lancelot Allan "Bud" Hovey, of Fredericton, NB, husband of the Doris (Burlock) Hovey, occurred on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 28, 1923 in Ludlow, NB, he was a son of the late Tully and Olla Hovey. Bud was a forest ranger with the Department of Natural Resources, retiring in 1988 after 43 years. He graduated in the first class of the Maritime Forest Ranger School. Bud served his country honorably in WWII during the Normandy Campaign and the Liberation of Holland; he was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4, Fredericton. Bud was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Bud is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Blain (Mel Cormier) and Connie Gilmore (Paul) both of Fredericton, NB; three sons, Lance (Sally), Wilson (Belinda) and Roger (Toby) all of Fredericton, NB; 11 grandchildren, Nathalie, Monique, Garth, Kirk, Kelsey, Kirsten, Julie, Jake, Turner, Marshall and Austin; two great grandchildren, Jon and Joseph; sister in law, Margaret Hovey; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Bud was predeceased by an infant daughter, Melissa; three sisters, Virginia Hovey, Ada O'Donnell and Audrey Guitard; three brothers, Holly, Garry and Wilson Hovey.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11 am with Pastor Pete Thomas officiating. Interment will take place in Ludlow United Baptist Cemetery, Ludlow, NB.
