Royden Bleakney

Royden Wesley Bleakney, 86, of Fawcett Hill passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Moncton Hospital with his loving wife of 58 years at his side. Born at the Bleakney Road he was a son of the late Eugene and Mildred (Steeves) Bleakney. A Veteran of World War II serving with the Carleton York Regiment, his theatre of service included Canada, United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe and he was wounded in Italy. Royden was a former employee of the T. Eaton Company and the Department of Transportation and he operated a family farm most of his life. He was a member of First North River Baptist Church. Survived by his wife Norma (Hicks); children Brian of Killams Mills, Alan (Deborah) of Wheaton Settlement, Evans (Judy) of Snider Mountain, Kevin (Pamela) of Scott Road, Brent (Lynn) of Fawcett Hill, Nancy Williams (James) of Regina Sk.; 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived also by brothers Austin of Wolfville N.S., Elmer (Pauline) of Rothesay and a sister Shirley Hopkins of Sudbury On. Predeceased by brothers Charles, Gerald, Emery and Dana and sisters Catherine Newton, Doris McKetsy and Lillian Sherwood.
Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Monday 6 to 8:30 p.m. The Funeral will be held from the First North River Baptist Church on Tuesday October 5 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Toben Steeves officiating. Interment at First North River Baptist Cemetery.
