It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Forence Hines, 68, of Reserve Mines. Florence passed away Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, in Calgary.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Nellie (Gouthro) MacDougall.
Florence was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines. She was a member of Reserve Mines Pensioners Club. She loved to play bingo with her granddaughter, Danielle, she enjoyed cooking for her family and she loved to travel. Florence was one of the original volunteers with the Vince Ryan Tournament. She also worked at the Midway Drive In in her earlier years.
Florence will be sadly missed by her husband, Timmy Hines; sons, Blair (Lise), Calgary, Darren (Charlene), Glace Bay, Kenny (Denise), Reserve Mines, Dean (Betty Anne), Enfield, Chris (Christine) Front Lake, Paul (Cici), Glace Bay; brother, Melvin MacDougall, Hamilton; cherished grandchildren, Kristian, Blair, Ellisa, Danielle, Dylan, Breton, Sadie, Allisa, Amber, Ethan, Logan, Chantelle, Krysten, Stephanie, Dean, Adam, Katie, Joseph, Sarah, Johnathon, Samantha, James, Jerrot, Lawson; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Cory; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Maurina Stubbard, close personal friend.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Roy MacEachern, son, Jerry, brothers and sisters, Caroline, Harriet, Johnny, Billy, Patricia and Annie Mae.
Visitation for Florence will be held Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A reception will follow, all are welcome. A family interment will be held the parish cemetery.
