John Peter MacDonald passed away peacefully the morning of Oct. 1, 2010, at the age of 79 years at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with family by his side.
John was the son of the late Katherine and John 'Bulldog' MacDonald of Glace Bay.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Florence (MacLeod) and children, Debbie (Murray) Tobin, Glace Bay, James MacDonald, Ontario, Kevin (Sybille) MacDonald, Little Rock, Ark., Anne Michelle (James) McCormick, Ontario; his 10 grandchildren, Jason (Michelle), Nikki (Robert), Pamela (Jason), Tiffany (Terry), Mason, Dalton, Logan, Colton, Kaylee and Tia; his six great-grandchildren, Keigan, Randy, Conner, Deanna, Shaun and Adrian; his brothers, Mike (Ursula) MacDonald, Reserve Mines, and Doug (Tootsie) MacDonald, New Waterford; and sister, Florence MacDonald, Glace Bay; as well as many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by both parents, son, Tommy MacDonald, two sisters and granddaughter, Shauna Tobin.
Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 4, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5th at St. Anthony's Church, Dominion Street, Glace Bay, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Society is appreciated.
