Irene was born on October 10, 1929 in Vancouver and passed away peacefully on October 2, 2010 at the Kamloops Hospice Home.

Irene was predeceased by her parents Herb and Margaret Gates and her sister Greta all of Vancouver.

She is survived and greatly missed by husband, Ted, son Allen (Beverley), granddaughters Sarah and Katrina all of Kamloops, and son Terry (Gill) of Burnaby, sister Betty-Lou (Ken) Downs of Novato, California and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was active in curling and golf. She loved to laugh and enjoyed a good party. Her passions included her garden and Tiger her cat.

A Service of Remembrance will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010 in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour St.
