The death of Joan Dugdale, wife of the late Herbert Dugdale occurred after a brief battle with lung cancer on Thursday, October 7, 2010. She was born on May 21, 1927 in Great Yarmouth, England to the late Frank and Emma (Saunders) Spandler. Joan was a loving wife and mother, devoting her life to her family. She was a long time member of Ladies Fitness at the YMCA and Aquatic Centre with her friend Belle Burgess. She is survived by four daughters: Linda Hong (Ben) of Cambridge Narrows, Susan Rose of Saint John, Julie Jack (Edward) of Saint John and Nancy Dugdale of Montreal, QC; two sons: Robin Dugdale (Linda) of Leduc, AB and Brent Dugdale (Tracy) of Fredericton; twelve grandchildren: Roger and Tammy Sanders, Benjamin and Emily Hong, Elisha Boyle, Megan Jack, Vanessa, Dean, Tommy Lee Boily and Morgan, Paige and Lauren Dugdale. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
