The family and friends of Paul Francis Crane (Halifax and Mahone Bay) mourn his passing on Sunday, June 7, 2009, at home in his beloved Mahone Bay. Born in St. John's, N.L., in 1953, he was a devoted, loving husband and best friend to Penny Hustins Crane, and caring father of sons, Christopher Peter Crane, Calgary and Jeffrey Ronald Crane, Denton, Tex. He was much loved by Tyler Mosher (Deb) and Amy Mosher Caesar (Michael) and by grandsons, Benjamin Caesar and Rowan Caesar. Paul is survived by Christopher and Jeffrey's mother, Helen Crane, as well as by siblings, all from St. John's, N.L., Patricia Riche (David), Brenda Dawson (Victor) and twin brother, Peter Crane (Lana). He was predeceased by his parents, George and Ellen Mary (Ryan) Crane (Military Road, St. John's, N.L.), and his brother, Donald Crane (Helen) (Stratford, Ont.). After 21 years with the Business Development Bank of Canada, Paul retired as Senior Manager in 2004. He remained active in business through his consulting firm, Paul Crane Projects and was very proud of his affiliation with Nova Scotia Co-operative Council. Paul was extremely active in the business and volunteer communities, and was involved during his life with organizations such as Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Committee; Junior Achievement Mainland Nova Scotia; as a Director, Hockey Nova Scotia; as Tournament Chair, Atlantic Irving Cup; as Discipline Chair, Nova Scotia Minor Hockey Association; The United Way- Provincial Chair for BDC; Canadian Cancer Society; Heart and Stroke Foundation, and other organizations. Visitation will be held in Snow's Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, on Thursday, June 11, between 4 and 7 p.m. A celebration of the life of Paul Crane will be held at a funeral mass in St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica, Spring Garden Road, Halifax, on Friday, June 12, at 2 p.m. Family flowers only. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Maritime Heart Centre, Cardiovascular Clinic, 2269-1796 Summer St., the Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII, Halifax, N.S. B3H 3A7.
