Hazel Sanborn
The passing of Hazel Mary Sanborn, of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Orland Sanborn, occurred on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 27, 1916 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Taylor) Turvey. Hazel retired from the Provincial Finance Department. She was a member of the UCW at Gibson Memorial United Church and also a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Devon #37. She is survived by her nephew, Glenn Briggs (Greta) of Estey's Bridge, NB; cousins, Madlyn Phillip, Doris Holmes, Mabel Ring, Harry Homer, Pauline Duff, James Salmon, David Hunter, Paul Hunter, John Hunter and Sandra Forgrave. Besides her husband and parents, Hazel was predeceased by her cousin, Connie Hill.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 2-4 pm. Members of the Eastern Star Chapter #37 are asked to assemble at the funeral home for a tribute service on Monday at 1:45 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Boyd Vincent officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Glenn Briggs, Ken Yeamens, Gavin Richardson, Greg Crouse, Rick Cochrane and Donald Bruce. Interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
