The death of Mrs. Ruth D. (Bent) Barrett, wife of William J. "Buddy" Barrett of Saint John West occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 9, 2010. Born in West Saint John on February 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd K. and Edna (Landry) Bent. Ruth was an active member of RCL #2, enjoyed bowling, Ladies Darts, and was an avid bingo player. Surviving in addition to her husband Buddy, she is survived by son D. Wayne (Sandra) Barrett, daughters Judith Ann Barrett, Karen (Vernon) Lanteigne, Deborah (Randy Blanchard) Barrett and Linda (Chuck) Edison, all of Saint John, brother George (Vera) Bent, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Betty Thibodeau, and brothers Chubby and Ronnie Bent.
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. There will be a private family entombment at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery Columbarium. A reception will take place at RCL Branch #2 on Thursday at 4 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John West (634-1701).
