LOWER BARNEY'S RIVER - Margaret Irma Murray, 73, Lower Barney's River, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away, Friday, October 8, 2010, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by her family.
Born in Marshy Hope, she was a daughter of the late George Henry and Margaret Hazel (Atwater) Sutherland.
She was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Merigomish. In earlier years, she became a Registered X-Ray Technician and was employed at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Mom created "home" for her family, teaching love and strength through example.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Walter; daughters, Nancy Murray (Michael Howard), Halifax; Heather (Mike) Silver, Antigonish; sons, Alan (Cindy), Bermuda; Robert (Kelley), New Glasgow; Bruce (Lloydine), Halifax; grandchildren: Andrew, Jordan, Craig, Taylor, Kyle, Matt, Lauren, Sydney, Ben and Sam; sisters, Ruth (Brian) Clarke, Moncton, N.B.; Alice (John) Gillespie, Eureka; brothers, Bill (Mary) Sutherland, Dartmouth; Don (Ruth) Sutherland, Linacy; sister-in-law, Barb Sutherland, Halifax; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Ed.
Private visitation will take place in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a public funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel with Rev. Laurence Mawhinney officiating. Private interment will be in Murray's Point Cemetery.
