Peacefully with his family by his side, Kenneth (Kenny) Mofford of Fredericton passed away on October 14, 2010 at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital at the age of 81. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 1, 1929, to the late Keith and Elsie (Blizzard) Mofford and husband of the late Thelma (Stewart) Mofford.
Kenny began his working career with Eastern Bakeries Ltd., at UNB for 5 years, a welder for over 30 years (16 of which were at LA Machine Works), and more notably was a self employed businessman owning Mofford's Firewood and Snow Plowing. A member of St. Margaret's Anglican Church, a member of the Vestry, Warden of the Church, involved with the St. Margaret's Scouts and the Old Coffee House Group. Early on Kenny was a member of the Barker's Point Lions Club, which led him to race Stock Cars and Motorcycles, even racing in Laconia, as well as being a member of the Fredericton CB Radio Club. Survived by his children Peggy Boucher (Bob) of Rusagonis, Lori Mofford (Blake) of Marysville, Jeff Mofford (Pam) of Lincoln; six grandchildren Lenora Dunphy (Blake), Peter Boucher (Jen), Brittany Grant, Hayley Grant, Josh Boucher and Alyssa Mofford; 5 great grandchildren Matthew, Dylan, Jade, Amber and Nate; son in law Tony Grant; brother Thomas Mofford (Juliet) of Bath, Maine; sister Winnie Blizzard of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son Ricky, daughter Janice Grant, great grandson Jakob, and sister Sybil Mofford.
Visitation will be held at St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Forest Hill Road, on Monday October 18, 2010 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service to be held from St. Margaret's Anglican Church on Tuesday October 19, 2010 at 11 AM with Rev. John Harvey and Rev. Neville Cheeseman officiating.
