It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Marjorie MacKinnon. Marjorie passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Elsie (Keight) Hyde.
Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well as a good game of cards and bingo. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Sydney Mines.
She is survived by her five children, Kevin (Diane), Halifax, Wanda MacKinnon, Kelowna, B.C., Jim (Laurie), Dartmouth, Marjorie (Francis), Ottawa, Robert (Daina), North Sydney; her two sisters, Estella Bartlett, Halifax, Dorothy Hyde, Sydney Mines; and by her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband James MacKinnon, her sister, Rose and brothers, Danny, Sonny and Harold.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Debbie MacKinnon, Marjorie';s close friend and caregiver, the staff of 4E and 4W of the Northside General Hospital, as well as the staff of Palliative Care for the care and kindness shown to our mother.
A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Trintiy Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care of Cape Breton.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
