BENT, Regina Marie - 67, Upper Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, October 10, 2010, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born April 10, 1943 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Celeste (Surette) Pothier. Regina worked at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. She loved dancing and singing, and she was passionate about shopping. Her pride and joy was her granddaughter (p'tit trésor), Jadyn. She will always be fondly remembered as a woman who went out of her way to please others. Regina is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Calvin Bent, as well as their son, Aaron (Muriel Mackay) Bent, Fall River, and her cherished grandchildren, Jadyn, Abbey and Allie. Also surviving are her two sisters, Elaine (Jack) Murphy, and Joanne (Bill) Doucet, both of Ottawa, and her nephews, Ian, Warren, Christian & Glenn. Visitation took place at H. M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, with prayers at 8 p.m. The funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 13 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Msgr. Gerald LeBlanc officiated, assisted by Father Greg Sampson. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Donations in Regina's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or to the Tri-County branch of the V.O.N. The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness and care shown to both Regina and to themselves by Dr. Shelagh Leahey, Dr. Mary Davis and Sheila d'Eon, and the entire V.O.N. staff.
