FRIZELL, George Ross “Geordie†– 70, Upper Brookside, Colchester County, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 13, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born February 22, 1939 in Kemptown, he was a son of the late Charles and Alice (Johnson) Frizell. Geordie was a member of Shepherd’s Heart Prayer Centre, Truro and worked for many years at Subway Bottle Exchange in Bible Hill. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed time spent at their cottage in Portapique with his family and friends. Geordie is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Shirley Anne “Sally†(Newton); children, Noreen (Steven) Lane, Truro; Wanda (Stephen) Matthews, Upper Brookside; Andy (Kenda), Valley; Crystal “Criss†(Greg) Barkhouse, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Anthony, Tiffany, Nicole (David), Samantha, Cassidy and Caitlyn; sisters, Doris Hakala, Marie (Frederick) Gregory, Cambridge, New York; Edith Hayward, Rose Sexton, Truro; Sharon Kervin, Lower Sackville; June (Sam) Richardson, Kemptown; brothers, Harold “Happy†(Annie), Truro; Brian, St. Catharine’s, Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert “Bobâ€, Eldon, Glen and Vernon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Geordie’s family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Tuesday, June 16, 2009, and where the funeral service will be held 1 pm Wednesday, June 17, 2009, Reverend Steve McEvoy officiating. Reception will follow. Interment will then be held in Aenon Baptist Church Cemetery, North River. Family flowers only.
