Frances Brannen
We announce, with sadness, the peaceful passing of Frances Brannen at Turnbull Nursing Home on October 19, 2010. Frances was born in Saint John on September 23, 1923, daughter of the late Charles and Annie (MacMichael) Brannen. She was predeceased by her sisters Connie Pottle; Jean (Ted) Moore and nephew Ian Brannen. Survived by brother John (Vivien) Douglas of Etobicoke, ON and devoted brother-in-law Arthur Pottle; of Saint John, NB. Also nieces and nephews Robert (Kim), John (Joanna), Mark (Kerry), Kent (Kelly) Pottle; Frances (Chris) Skinner, Anne (Stan) Chapman; Chris (Doreen), Brent (Cindy), Bonnie Moore; Glen (Janet), John C. (Carolyn) Brannen and several great nieces and nephews. Frances has been a lifelong and devoted attendant of St. Jude's Anglican Church of West Saint John where she taught Sunday School and served many years on the Vestry. Frances graduated from Saint John High School and worked her entire career with NB Telephone Company. She was an attentive volunteer at the Central and West Saint John Food Banks and was a keen bowler with the Golden K Bowlers. She enjoyed many summers at her cottage on the Washademoak, cooking, knitting and curling.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Jude's Church. Reception will take place following service in the church hall. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. The family wants to express deep appreciation for the wonderful and devoted care received from all the staff at Turnbull Nursing Home.
