It is with great sadness, that we announce the death of Alfreda Mary McIvor of Saint John, NB on Wednesday October 20, 2010. Born in Bouctouche, NB on August 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Leo Joseph Jaillette and Aurora (Cormier) Jaillette. Besides her husband Raymond McIvor of 51 years, she is survived by four daughters Patricia Caissie (Bernie) of Moncton, Carol McNair (David) of Saint John, Joanne Breau (Rheal) of Grand Barachois, NB and Beverley Szemerda (Daniel) of Saint John; three sons Leo McIvor (Judy), Ronald McIvor (Sharon) and Richard McIvor (Ann) all of Saint John; grandchildren Angela, Heather, Mike, Nicole, Stephanie, Andrea, Ethan, Ryan, Crystal, Kim, Ali, as well as a special granddaughter at heart Ashley; great grandchildren Justin, Marissa, Kohen, Zackery, Dakota, Dylan and Taylor; sisters Mary Nice (Bev), Jean McLaughlin (Hugh), Gail Hooley (Bob) and Norma Morrow (Lloyd); brother Leo Jaillette (Kathy) all of Saint John; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her daughter Joanne Lena McIvor. Alfreda was employed at the TB Hospital and various Restaurants which included Diana's Rest and the Riveria Restaurant in which she left to care for her mother until she passed away in 1977. She then returned to work at the Mediterranean Restaurant until she retired in February 2000. Alfreda was a great Wife, Mother, Grandmother, listener, problem solver, avid bowler, baker and together with her husband a great gardener, her love, respect and dedication to her family, will not only live on in memories of her baking at Christmas and holidays, full house and family gatherings and generosity, but in our hearts forever.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joachim's Church on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
