Elwood McGee

With sadness, the family announces the passing of Elwood McGee on October 21, 2010. Born in Harvey Station on July 15, 1925, Elwood was secretary for School Board District 27 for many years. He was an involved member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #7, McAdam), and was Grand Master of the Odd Fellows for the Atlantic Provinces in 1997. Elwood is survived by his wife, Gladys (Messer) McGee; his daughter, Marcia Fletcher; his son Gregory McGee (Cindy); two brothers, Ambrose (Hood) McGee (Marion) and Raymond McGee; four grandchildren, Daniel Fletcher, Michael Fletcher, Jacqueline Edwards (Bobby) and MaryAnn McGee; three great grandchildren, Thomas Edwards and Chloe and Hunter McGee-Painting; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Hartley and Mildred (Hood) McGee; his brother, Purdy McGee and his wife, Joan; a sister, Dorothy Vance and her husband Glen; a sister-in-law, Arlee McGee and a son-in-law, Robert Fletcher. By request of the family, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 2412 Route 3, Harvey, NB on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 3 p.m., with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service. Afterward, the immediate family will then proceed to the interment.
In memory of Elwood, donations can be made to the Tim Lister Fund, or a charity or organization of the donor's choice. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam, NB for the excellent care their father received while a resident there.
