BLONDON, Mary Catherine - 92, Truro, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born August 10, 1918, in Elderbank, Halifax County, where she was also raised, she was predeceased by her parents, John and Winnifred (nee Ogilvie) Mayne; husband, Irwin; son, Brian; infant brother. She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor, Truro; sons, Austin (Brenda), Fall River; Bernie (Tammy), Brookfield; her close cousin, Margaret Bryant, Vernon, BC. She was Gram to grandchildren, Christine Fahey, Texas; Peter (Ronda) Fahey, Bible Hill; Chris (Jodi) Blondon, Bedford; Kelly (Jean) Genier, Ottawa; Robin (Shawna) Blondon, Sackville; Virginia Blondon, Hilden; Jennifer Power, Kathleen Power and Jon (Chelsea) Power, all of Truro; 12 great grandchildren who she loved dearly. She spent her working career at Stanfield's in Truro and enjoyed her leisure days taking in short trips to see the countryside, gardening and celebrating the holidays with family. She lived independently and maintained her good sense of humour right to the very end. A special thank you to Dr. Chris Cook and the wonderful staff at Colchester Regional Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Mary's family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Monday, October 25, 2010, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2010, Reverend Roger Moore officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation or charity of your choice.
