We regret to announce the death of Alfred Francis Caffiers, Groves Point. Frank passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in Bras d’Or, he was the son of Elizabeth Irene Young and the late Alfred Joseph Caffiers of Bras d’Or. He was a member of St. Joseph parish, Bras d’Or.
He served in the Canadian army for 25 years and also served as a peace keeper in Cyprus. After his years of service, he retired to Groves Point, where he was an active volunteer in the community.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his only daughter, Mary (Paddy) Parson and one grandson, all in Edmonton. Also surviving are his brothers, Harold, Thorold, Ont., and Chuck, Bras d’Or; and his sisters, Annette, Hamilton, Ont., Marcella, Millville, and Elizabeth, North Sydney.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date and will be announced.
