Judith Ann (Pelrine) AuCoin
Born In: Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed in: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: June 13th, 2009
On Saturday, June 13, 2009, Judy Aucoin went to sleep for the last time in her daughter’s arms.
Those close to her knew her as a warm, strong, caring, admirable and tenacious woman who loved a cup of tea and a good game of cards with a little gossip on the side. In her nine years battling cancer she rarely let anyone know she was fighting it. She made sure that cancer was going to get the worst of her, not the best.
Judy worked for the Nova Scotia government for 30 years, first at the Point Edward Hospital and then in the Department of Municipal Affairs before retiring in 1994. She then went on to volunteer with various organizations including Fancie’s Gift Shop in Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Revenue Canada’s Income Tax Program to name a few.
Judy was predeceased by her husband, James Anthony AuCoin, her parents, Mary Lillian (Marr) and Joseph Augustus Pelrine.
She is survived by daughter, Jennifer in Halifax; brother, Kenneth (Madeline) in Lower Sackville, and many dear friends in Sydney.
There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will take place at Holy Rosary Church in Westmount on Thursday, June 18 at 2:30 p.m. with lunch at Branch 128 afterward.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
Online condolences may be sent to twcurryparkviewchapel@ns.sympatico.ca or www.mem.com
