It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Doreen Alberta (Daigle) Achorn, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at her home on Saturday October 30, 2010 after 3 years of battling cancer. Born 1954 in St. Stephen, she was the daughter of the late Mary Opal Neilson and Jim and Alice Hood. Doreen is survived by her beloved common law partner Floyd M. Giggie, her son Emile James Doucet (Karrie) and grandsons Cohen and Tyler. She had three brothers; Eric Neilson (Susan), David Daigle (Carrie), James Neilson (Nancy) all of St. Stephen, NB, and four sisters; Linda Graves (Jim) of Saint John, NB, Betty McCurdy (Darryl) and Kathy Moore (Larry) of St. Stephen, NB and Jean Graves (Noel) of Dartmouth, NS,; Betty and Mimi Wrighton of Dixfield, Maine as well as several nieces and nephews and her dearest friend Barbara Walsh. Doreen found great pleasure in being at her summer camp and being surrounded by her family and friends. She enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, scrap booking, photography and sewing.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or donations to assist with the costs of the funeral services. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
