Curtis Mertin
MERTIN, Curtis Hugh, 63, of River John passed away suddenly November 4, 2010.
Born and raised in Marshville, he was a son of the late Bert and Dorothy (Sutherland) Mertin.
Curtis worked at the Car Works for a number of years and was a fisherman for over 20 years. He was a Past-President of the Northumberland Fisherman’s Co-op.
Surviving are his wife, Linda (Langille); sons, Adrian (Daphne), River John; Eugene (Dolly), River John; Curt, New Glasgow and River John. Grampy will be greatly missed by granddaughters: Kirstin, Kendal, Krista, Hannah, and Emily. Also surviving are brother, Charles (Gwen) Mertin, Ontario; aunt, Verna Baillie, River John; and uncle, Bill Sutherland, British Columbia.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Angus, and a brother in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John, from where funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, with Jacquie Ross officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
