1922 - 2010 - Barry Chapman, age 88, of Riverview, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was a son of the late Frederick and Sarah (Smith) Chapman. Barry served in World War II with the 8th Hussars in Italy, North West Europe and England. He was a life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 15, Dorchester. In addition to his wife Bessie (Smith) Chapman, he is survived by son Stephen (Ann), St Stephen; two daughters, Patricia MacLennan, Brampton, ON, Bonnie (Guy Roy) Chapman, Gatineau, PQ; seven grandchildren, Robert, James, Christopher, Susan (Kirk), Chuck (Mandy), Brittni (Geoff), and Zackarie; four great grandchildren, Maya, Noah, Kaylee and Aaryk; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters Roberta Bowes and Freda Robinson, as well as a half-brother, Cavour.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (364-1300), from where visitation will take place on Sunday, November 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11 am, Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will follow in the Dorchester Rural Cemetery. Branch 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a legion service on Sunday at 7:30 pm. Donations in memory of Barry may be made to the Dorchester Rural Cemetery or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
