We the family regret to announce the passing of our dear brother, Jeptha Thomas Ross at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital - Mental Health Unit D on Nov. 10, 2010, with his sister, Martha by his side.
Born August 26, 1938 in Portree, N.S., Jeptha was the son of the late Jeptha and Iola (Shaw) Ross.
Formerly from Portree, Margaree, Jeptha resided in Toronto, Ont. for some years and later in Sydney. N.S. For the last several years Jeptha resided at the Braemore Home, Sydney River.
Jeptha loved Celtic music, especially the violin, as a younger man would step dance in the middle of the kitchen floor at home. He also enjoyed country music.
Jeptha Thomas is survived by his sisters, Mabel Mullins, Inverness, Martha Ross, Sydney Mines and brother, Colin (Vivian) Ross, Portree Margaree; as well as a lot of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Besides his parents, Jeptha was predeceased by his brothers, Irving, John, Carey, Murdock and Fred; and his sisters, Elizabeth, Delina, Margaret and Annie Belle.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of the late Jeptha Thomas Ross will be held at the Margaree Valley Baptist Church, Margaree Valley, N.S. on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1-2 p.m. with memorial service to follow with Pastor Hugh Morrison officiating. Reception will be shared after the service.
Donations in Jeptha's memory may be made to Margaree Valley Bapist Church or charity of one's choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Sunset Co-operative and Pier Community Funeral Home.
