DeGroot, Derk - 91, Truro passed away peacefully June 19, 2009 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born on December 10, 1917 in Onstwedde, the Netherlands, he was a son of the late Peter and Janna (Luljeboer) DeGroot. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Engeltje (Velthuis); son, Peter (Sharon); daughter, Wilhelmina (Koenrad) Mostert; grandchildren, Michael, Crista, Jerry, Angelia, Derk; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Lammechien, The Netherlands; many nieces and nephews, The Netherlands. He was predeceased by seven brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22 from 6-8 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro; funeral service on Tuesday, June 23rd at 11:00 am in John Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 169 Glenwood Drive, Truro with Rev. Dan Brown officiating. Private family interment in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Derk’s name may be made to the John Calvin Christian Reformed Church.
