FOSS - David Noel Foss of Hazenmore, SK, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the age of 81 years. Dave was born December 25, 1927, at Aneroid SK. His middle name was Noel because of the sacred day he was born on. He lived on the farm south of Aneroid until 1937, when he moved with his family to Lister, BC. He loved the area around Lister with mountains, lakes, rivers, and the lush green forests. In 1946, Dave went to work logging, mining, and in construction. Dave was a hard worker and his labor-intensive jobs gave proof to this. On May 21, 1951, Dave joined The Canadian Army in the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers Corps then transferred into the Royal Canadian Engineers. He went to Korea as part of the United Nations allied forces and in 1954, Dave was honorably discharged from the Canadian Army. His service to this country had earned him four military medals in the 3 years he served. Dave went back to mining and logging, then in 1955 started working in construction and took a course in carpentry. On April 2, 1958, Dave married his true love, Edna Jordet in Great Falls, Montana. Dave and Edna moved to their farm south of Hazenmore where they farmed and raised cattle. Over the next 51 years they raised their three children Gina, Noreen and Warren and helped raise their grandchildren. Dave was also a strong father- figure to his nephews, Harley, Larry and Trevor Foss, Chris and Kevin Jordet and niece, Valerie Foss. Dave was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a very noble, kind and unselfish man. He put the needs of his family and extended family before his own. He was a mentor, a great listener and a friend. He was a tall, sturdy, steadfast individual, with a calm “gentle as a giant†demeanor. Dave was a humanitarian. He would never judge a person on their race or creed. He loved mankind and nature. Dave was a hard worker with a strong work ethic. Although he enjoyed carpentry and ranching, Dave’s niche was being a husband and family man. He epitomized that roll. Dave’s legacy will live on through the family he has left behind. He will not be forgotten. May He Rest in Peace. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Edna (Jordet); three children, Gina (Roger) Deringer, Noreen Foss and Warren Foss; ten grandchildren, Amber(Steven) Johnson, Jolan and Ryan (Melissa Willis) Fabbro, Cody Deringer(Jackie MacEwan), Jordan (Sarah Robinson), Kristen and Jamie Foss, Mandi, Cara Dawn and Logan Foss; and the two great grandchildren, Ashton and Carson Foss-Palmer; siblings, Harold (Betty) Foss, Alvin and Gloria Gorrill and Eleanor Tompke; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by parents, George and Nellie (Gorrill) Foss and stepfather, Garfield Gorrill; siblings, Nelson Foss, Warren (Alfhild) Foss, Virginia (Foss) Gorrill, Ray, Ralph, Humphrey, Vernon and Wilbur Gorrill. Funeral service was held on Friday May 29, 2009, in the Aneroid United Church. Rev. David Peebles officiated with Legion and Masonic Rites. Pallbearers were grandsons Jolan Fabbro, Ryan Fabbro, Jordan Foss, Jamie Foss, Logan Foss, and nephew Kevin Jordet. Internment was at the Aneroid Cemetery.
