Laurilla Jane Wasyliw

Laurilla Jane (nee Robertson) Wasyliw. It is with great sadness that the family of Rilla Wasyliw announces her passing on November 8, 2010.
Rilla was the daughter of the late Jack and Edith Robertson of Churchville. Rilla attended school in Churchville and Stellarton. After graduating from Normal College in Truro, she taught in Churchville and Quebec. Rilla moved to Bellis, Alberta, accepting a teaching position in 1959. It was here in Bellis where Rilla found her niche in life, she taught school here until she retired. She was highly respected as a teacher, principal, friend and mentor.
Rilla will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Walter “Wally” Wasyliw of Bellis; son, Greg (Lesley) and treasured grandsons, Dyson and Jace of Enderby, BC; and daughter, Lynne Wasyliw of Ottawa, ON. Rilla will be lovingly remembered by brother, Jim (Barbara) Roberston of Churchville; sisters, Katherine (Bob) Lewis of Bridgewater, and Lillian (Stew) Hattie of Halifax; Aunt Daisy MacDonald of Churchville; Uncle Gordon Robertson of South Carolina; brother-in-law, Rev. Bill (Marusia) Wasyliw of Winnipeg, MB; as well as her nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.
The family would like to sincerely thank relatives and friends for their support and acts of kindness during these difficult times. A special thank you to the staff at George McDougall Health Centre in Smoky Lake for the kind and thoughtful care provided to Rilla.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, Edmonton, Alberta, with Rev. Bill Wasyliw officiating.
Donations in Rilla’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank all those who have sent cards, made donations, telephoned, and made visits of condolences. We will miss her visits every summer – Jim, Katherine, Lillian and their families.
