
Kathleen McCarthy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen (Kay) Margaret McCarthy, 87, of Amherst on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Gables Lodge, Amherst.
Born in Little River, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret (Faulkner) Adshade and is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
While living in Lower Sackville, Kay was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Calais Br. #162 of the Royal Canadian Legion as well as a member of the Lioness Club.
She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Margolians in Amherst.
Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mabel (Paulette Foley) McCarthy, Mount Uniacke, NS; sons, Brian (Jane), Oakville, ON and Creighton (Chris), Tidnish, NS; five grandchildren, Todd, Jennifer and Jill McCarthy all of Oakville, ON; Kimberly McCarthy-Kearney, Toronto, ON, James McCarthy, Surrey, BC three great grandchildren, Jacob and Cassandra McCarthy and Lola McCarthy-Kearney; a special niece Shirley Walsh of Quispamsis, NB and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by four sisters, Viola Bardon, Thelma Moore, Flora Hannah and Ada McKenna; five brothers, Llewellyn, Gordon, Logan, Fernie and Carl and a grandson Darren McCarthy.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. with funeral service on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald Miller officiating all in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906).
Interment will take place in the Spruce Grove Cemetery, Little River, Cumberland County, NS.
If so desired, memorial donations in Kay's memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
