It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Catherine Alice King, age 71, on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, Kay was the daughter of the late Gordon and Nina (Green) Luffman.
She was an avid gardener and bowler and a former member of the ladies auxiliary of the Frenchvale Volunteer Fire Department.
Kay was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church in North Sydney. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edison King; her daughter, Linda (Brian) Betts, Sydney Forks; and her son, Brian King, Alberta; and also by her two grandchildren, Steven and Kelsie.
Besides her parents, Kay was predeceased by two brothers, Brian and Emerson.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service for Kay will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
